  43 The function \fBnew_item\fR allocates a new item and initializes it from the
  44 \fBname\fR and \fBdescription\fR pointers.
  45 Please notice that the item stores
  46 only the pointers to the name and description.
  47 Those pointers must be valid
  48 during the lifetime of the item.
  49 So you should be very careful with names
  50 or descriptions allocated on the stack of some routines.
